This season of NYFW I have admittedly been glued to collection viewing a lot more than normal, possibly because of the monotony of university assignments. Whatever the reason, it led me to find my dream collection for the season - Delpozo. I would give anything to shoot this collection! The floaty burnt watermelon shades interspersed with the crisp bumblebee tonality and muted moss green, strong bottle greens and a rich scarlet with all sorts of shapes has me swooning… 

In my version of the campaign for this collection, I would have a large loft space with playground type swings and slides installed into it, light streaming in softly through French windows, and a group of soft faced models (read: Sasha Luss, Marnie Harris) sitting at the edge of swings or peering triumphantly from the top of slides, eating cherries and watermelons with an obvious summertime glow in the light.

In cuffing news

I'm not sure if anyone other than myself is quite as pedantic about folding a shirt sleeve, but I've always been unhappy with the doughnut shaped lump at the end of my shirts when I fold it my way. 

Today however, I came across this video with Jenna Lyons (if you don't know who she is, this is the time to google) where she talks about her way to fold a cuff. If you're as pedantic as I am about the smaller details, that video is eye-opening. 

Also, here's some cuffs that I love!

NYFW SS15: all white

From spending countless hours till my eyes hurt on style.com, I've curated a few recurring themes from SS15 NYFW that particularly stand out to me. 

This post is about dressing all white, head to toe and wrist to wrist. It works in summer, and you will look like snow in winter. Either way, it's a win-win. With extremely close observation to the way the all-white has been carried out, I've come with five different ways to wear your all-white: layered textures, minimalist, movement, structured and young. 

This first collage shows different textures of mesh, linens and smoother fabrics being layered one over the other in different shades of white. 

This next collage is always my personal favorite way to wear anything: minimalist. The linearity of the lines, and the boxy shapes always stand out to me for their striking simplicity.

This one is about movement in your all-whites. With big full skirts, culottes, or flowy bootcut pants, this is almost like your clothes are walking and floating around even when you aren't.

This next one, is about structure. Sharp lines, edges and clear dimensionality play into these designs to make you stand out like a sword (get it? sharp lines, swords?).

And lastly, looking youthful, playful or even like a bit of candy. These last designs are about adding a hint of color, and sweetness to make you feel like every shade in a box of M&M's even when you're wearing just white.

Whatever your style is, get white-ing. And let me know what you think.

Can we talk normcore?

I'm actually at a bit of a loss on the topic/ trend of normcore . I like the unisexuality of it, no gender stereotypes or pressures seeping in there. And of course the comfort- why wouldn't you wear sneakers all day, everyday and everywhere? Aside from its advantages, its obvious paradox steps forth as well, where people are trying to get away from over saturated fashion trends, by following another trend? I have my doubts there. But beyond that, I'm a blank wall on the subject.

If you're in love with it, it might have something to do with the models that make it look so effortlessly amazing, or the Birkenstock/ Celine/ Juergen Teller vibe that seems to make anything work. If you hate it, I can see why too. But I'd love to know either way what you think of it?

mus(e)spiration: spring & pink

This blog has been made and remade, deleted and edited so many times over the last few years that I thought it was accurate to name it after its extreme shyness and its need to isolate itself from the public eye. This blog will be a space where I post my muspiration (muse- inspiration), photography, Dunedin's hidden treasures, and other general stuff that I love talking about, like my dog etc.

Anyone that knows me can probably vouch for the fact that I'm obsessed with making moodboards- just the searching, visuality, mapping color tones, picking, choosing and spacing pictures to create a cohesive identity of visual inspiration really gets me, in a good way. So I figured I should share my obsession with some other people (as you do).

This first post is just a little spring-inspired moodboard (that has few too many adjectives to describe it, but here it goes anyway!) that is soft, has an Elle Fanning meets Sofia Coppola's portrayal of femininity, meets Marie Antoinette's lushness with a hint of Frenchness and spring, in pale toned shades of pink.
